About Reformation Fest...
Peace Lutheran Church, 300 Lincoln St., Antigo, WI is the site for a historic celebration of the 500th anniversary of the posting of the 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany by Martin Luther. This Circuit wide event will involve the nine congregations to commemorate the beginning of the modern day Protestant Church. The festival service beginning at 3:30 will include a colorful banner processional and clergy from all the Circuit 7 churches. In addition to congregational singing of Reformation hymns accompanied by brass instruments, there will be both a mass adult choir, a children’s choir, and a bell choir. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Tim Roser, 1st Vice President of the North Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. The theme will be, “It’s Still All About Jesus.” A freewill offering is designated for the Synodical Joint Seminary Fund to encourage the education of men to be future pastors.
Following the service, the festival continues with German food, such as brats, German potato salad, pretzels, and root beer. Children will be given a passport to participate in a ten station “Reformation Walk.” They will learn about Martin Luther and his time and receive a sticker for each station completed. There will also be many educational activities and displays to help everyone learn more about Luther and his contemporaries. See a model of the Wartburg Castle and Luther and Katie impersonators. Due to generous Thrivent grants, all events are free and the public is welcome to attend.
